To sell apparel in the EU market, physical products must be paired with their “digital twin”: the Digital Product Passport (DPP). Begin by surveying all current fabric mills, yarn spinners, and dye houses. Request formal declarations of raw material origin and establish contractual requirements for data sharing across sub-suppliers.

Step 2: Implement Chain-of-Custody (CoC) Tracking

Replace unverified email attachments with standardized digital transaction records. Ensure that every batch of fabric delivered to your facility is paired with a digital transaction certificate verifying its certified organic, recycled, or low-impact status.

Step 3: Upgrade Internal ERP and PLM Interfaces

Integrate your Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software with open API frameworks. This allows your operational system to feed raw material quantities, bill-of-materials (BOM) data, and batch numbers directly into your clients’ DPP creation platforms.

Step 4: Validate Through Third-Party Certifications

Standardize on internationally recognized certifications that offer digital verification features—such as the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and OEKO-TEX Standard 100.
